SCALO MILANO IS THE NEW DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF MILAN THAT GROUPs TOGETHER ALL THE EXCELLENCES OF ‘MADE IN ITALY’: FASHION, FOOD AND, ABOVE ALL, DESIGN.
Scalo Milano has been opened last October and now hosts the one and only Design District in Italy and Europe: a district that encompasses the best of Italian design. As in Miami and New York, Scalo Milano includes in a single place, 22 among the best renowned furnishing brands: a hub where one can be inspired by beauty and creativity. Among the single-brand stores, we can find: Alessi, B&B Italia, Cappellini, Cassina, Dada, Calligaris, Molteni&C, Kartell, Kartell Lights, Poliform, Poltrona Frau, Varenna, Vitra, Natuzzi Italia, Luxury Living (Fendi Casa – Trussardi Casa – Heritage Collection), Corsini Night Experience, Scavolini, Tempur, Tisettanta (Elam – Halifax).
Scalo Milano, in partnership with the Foundation of the Order of Architects of Milan, attends the “Open Order 2017” event: on the occasion of this Fuorisalone, the Foundation opens the doors of its headquarters, in Via Solferino 19, to host events and provide a relaxation area to the people involved in the world of design. Milano Scalo cured the setting up of the garden of the Foundation’s headquarters with a special setting designed by different companies of the design District such as Molteni, Calligaris, Kartell and Vitra.
The project Scalo Design Station takes shape during these days: the Brera, Tortona and Lambrate districts have been transformed into urban relaxation areas for the benefit of the design community with different “Unconventional Lounge”, that is, spaces furnished with comfortable yellow seats. A tribute to the color of Milan, the design capital of Europe.
At the same time, Scalo Milano hosts Design Talk: a laboratory of ideas which is opened to everyone, a democratic and cross-the-board storytelling, an innovative tale full of issues related to the design world. The event was opened by Saturnino, bassist, composer and now, designer with his Saturnino Eye Wear brand.
Then, it was up to the talk “Print your shoes” by Mark Beccaloni, a young industrial designer who has recently created a collection of shoes entirely made with a 3D printer.
One of the most anticipated moments will be the meeting with comehome!, the popular platform that allows people to socialize with other people directly from their own home, attending different events that range from social eating to design. The creators of this platform will tell how these kinds of “home-events” involve more and more people and how the beauty of these events is strictly connected to a design concept.
Finally, the association School of Robotics will arrange a workshop for families and children, where, with the help of LEGO Mindstorms kit, will be illustrated the steps leading the design to the realization of a robot.
The last event of this busy week, will be a big party in Scalo Milano on Sunday, April 9 from 6pm to about 10pm, curated by Body/Heat and ETNA/Il Giardino dei Visionari.
