The annual event dedicated to design will take place in New York from 11 to 23 May 2018: let’s see the program
New edition of Nyc in the Big Apple. NYCEDC (New York City Economic Development Corporation) presented the program of the festival: among the main events on the heavy schedule are ICFF, WantedDesign, Brooklyn Designs, NYCxDESIGN Awards, Design Pavilion, Design Districts (SoHo Design District, Tribeca Design District, NoMad Design District and East Midtown Partnership), American Design Club and the New York Design Center.
“New York City is home to some of the most innovative and talented designers in the world, and we know this industry holds tremendous potential for good-paying jobs and economic opportunities for New Yorkers of all backgrounds,” said James Patchett, NYCEDC President and CEO. “NYCEDC will always be an enthusiastic supporter of NYC’s design community, and we look forward to this year’s NYCxDESIGN.”
Among the most important and awaited events, we can mention ICFF, now in its 30th edition. From 20 to 23 May, at the Javits Convention Center, it will be possible to see several major new features including VIA: ‘NO TASTE FOR BAD TASTE’, which will showcase the very best new innovation in French design with Philippe Stark, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Matali Crasset, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and more, The Handmade in Germany World Tour, with 180 German galleries, and Collective Concept @ ICFF, a platform for independent designersduring NYCxDESIGN.
For this year’s edition, NYCxDESIGN will have Rado as its official sponsor: during the event, the Swiss watchmaker will host the third edition of the Rado Star Prize together with WantedDesign. This year’s theme will focus on the concept of ‘Design Inspired by Nature’, exploring the influence nature can have on design. [Valentina Dalla Costa]
