The third edition of the exhibition Laboratorio di Architettura (Architecture Lab), organized by the magazine OF ARCH for MADE Expo 2010, is dedicated to high-tech research applied to the construction sector and to its components. Curated by Franco Mirenzi and Fortunato D'Amico, the exhibition focuses on the relationship between architecture schools, construction companies, materials producers and installers. Four Italian universities will present projects and construction systems created in close collaboration with other players of the construction cycle. The four universities are: the I.U.A.V. in Venice, the Faculty of Architecture Federico II in Naples, the Faculty of Architecture in Reggio Calabria and the one in Syracuse. Their projects show how high-tech research is connected to companies, manufacturers and uses and it reveals the needs of contemporary society. Even this year, the cultural exhibition area features a conference hall where roundtables and conferences will be held non-stop.
In addition to the presentation of the projects developed by the faculties of architecture, the Architecture Lab holds even an interesting event dedicated to water and presented in the Lounge area. It is the project developed by Francesca Grassi of Studio Rota. It was carried out referring to one of the event’s aim. It provides in fact food for thoughts as regards new technologies and the natural habitat elements.
In that regards, the projects by Andreas Kipar, Maurizio Varratta, Enrico Frigerio and Marco Acerbis, on show in this area, confirm the increasingly striking attention paid by contemporary architecture to the environment. During Made Expo 2010, DDN TV will show not only the exhibitions and conferences held during the Architecture Lab, but it will also visit the stands of the sector leader companies to find out the sector moods and reveal the new projects launched now on the market.
