Maison&Objet September 2018 with its eco-friendly theme ‘Virtuous’ is about to start. Here you can find a short guide to the trade fair and Paris Design Week

The theme of Maison&Objet September 2018 is ‘Virtuous’, 100% sustainability

In Paris from 7 to 11 September 2018, the latest trends to furnish and decorate interiors can be found at Maison&Objet (during the trade fair and Paris Design Week). Trend forecasting agency NellyRodi (based in Paris, New York and Tokyo) identified the guideline of this edition in the adjective ‘Virtuous’, which means eco-friendly ethics from design to production and use of each product. One would ask, ‘So, what’s new?’ The customers’ pressing request to apply this principle, therefore, it is not about imposing one trend or another but meeting the needs of an audience that has evolved.

The meaning of the theme is summarized and explained in the ‘Virtuous Trend Mook’ (40 Euros), available at the fairgrounds or on the website as a working tool and source of inspiration. The word ‘mook’ comes from Magazine+Book – French people love crases and abbreviations. From the website it is also possible to download the app-guide of the show for free and through the platform MOM you can book visits and meetings with your favorite exhibitors in order to stay focused on business.

THE NEW SIMPLIFIED MAP OF M&O

The section ‘home’ is divided into:

  • Craft, métiers d’art (Hall 6): excellent craftsmen inspired by tradition and modernity, an expertise that can be applied to unique pieces and small series.
  • Unique & Eclectic (Hall 5A and 6): the crossroads of cultures from all over the world.
  • Today (Hall 6): contemporary lifestyles proposed by iconic and emerging designers.
  • Forever (Halls 7 and 8): luxury brands and home fashion concepts, reinterpretations of the classic style inspired by timeless home refinement.

The section ‘objects’ is divided into:

  • Cook & Share (Halls 1 and 2): all the trends for the table and the kitchen.
  • Smart Gift (Halls 2 and 3): well-designed gift ideas.
  • Kids & Family (Hall 3): from toys to furniture and accessories for children.
  • Fashion Accessories (Hall 4): bags, jewelry and accessories harmonizing with the interiors.
  • Home Accessories (Halls 4, 5A, 5B): the new objects you need to give personality to interiors.
  • Home Fragrances (Hall 5A): home fragrances and candles.
  • Home Linen (Hall 5A): luxury household linen.

Going back to the theme ‘Virtuous’ (which can be visually explored at the entrance of Hall 5A), this is not a mere call to use natural materials but also to adopt techniques that are not ‘ethnic’ only in their appearance but that can be integrated into sustainable modernity, and to enhance excellent European craftsmanship, a centuries-old savoir faire relying on the ‘neat’ techniques of beautiful and useful in which France and Italy excel.

Paris exhibition is complementary to those of Milan and Cologne, since it combines home and objects, adding the general French trend of home décor and to keep abreast with the latest aesthetic trends.

Unmistakably French inspiration at Hall 6, M&O September 2018

The Designer of the year of M&O September 2018 is Ramy Fischler, graduated from ENSCI-Les Ateliers in Paris, with the passion to never repeat himself in his projects. His works for interiors are heavily influenced by films, he loves furnishing houses, restaurants and lounges with pieces of furniture designed by himself. He also creates ‘hybrid objects’ that show his ability to work in different fields.

MEANWHILE IN THE CITY CENTER: DESIGN AND CREATIVITY

Paris Design Week will last more than M&O, from 6 to 15 September 2018, with international stores and boutiques

Also Paris Design Week is unmissable: it is possible to arrive earlier or leave later to enjoy it without being exhausted because of the trade show, since it will be running from 6 to 15 September 2018. Along different itineraries, more than 200 exhibitors will participate: from showrooms to ateliers, from boutiques to galleries and cultural institutions. The exhibition dedicated to young talents ‘Le Off’ is moving to Ground Control Paris, Rue du Charolais, next to the Gare de Lyon, to a temporary art venue owned by the French national railway company SNCF.
