In November 2018 the Dubai Design Week and the Downtown Design trade show attract the design enthusiasts from the Arab Emirates and the world

Dubai Design Week – dxd -will be returning for its fourth edition from 12-17 November, while the commercial event Downtown Design will be held in parallel, from 13 to 16 November. Both events confirm Dubai, one of the major cities of the Arab Emirates, as driving force for design in and from the Middle East.

The ‘dxd’ program includes this year 230 events at the ‘d3’ (Dubai Design District) and others throughout the city; with the participation of 120 companies for a total increase of 20% in the 2017 that had registered, in the Design District alone, sixty thousand visitors. In 2018 it is launched, for the first time, an app which allows visitors to customize their tours and be notified of events and shows.

Meeting point for the global design world, dxd in 2017 brought 60 thousand visitors, only in the D3 (member of Tecom Group which, with Dubai Holding, is a strategic business facilitator, split into different sectors). The District is physically a hub for the growing number of designers and creative talents of the surrounding area: actually, it includes 450 partners from architects to photographers, from interior to fashion designers; it also includes 45 stores. Among the exhibitions: “UAE Design Stories: The Next Generation from The Emirates”and“Design for Good “. Finally, for a break, it offers the Block 3, for relaxing on the ‘urban beach’ but also for skating or climbing!

Moving to Downtown Design visitors will be pleased in finding more than one 175 shops of premium Arab and international brands. The news is Downtown Editions, an exhibition of items in limited edition or bespoke design pieces (the ‘tailor made’in an innovative sense), the result of creative talents from the Emirates but also coming from Amman, Beirut and Casablanca. Furthermore, following the theme “Livable Cities”, it will be realized an indoor courtyard by the landscape designers Studio Desert Ink. When it comes to environmental issues, ‘Global Grad Show 2018’ brings together inventions for change from 100 world’s top universities.
