The exhibition “MANOLO BLAHNÍK. The Art of Shoes” takes place in Milan, until April, 9 and hosts a large selection of shoes and drawings, covering the 45 years of activity of the fashion designer.
It is no coincidence that the exhibition is called “MANOLO BLAHNÍK. The Art of Shoes”. Indeed, the Spanish fashion designer, artist and visionary Manolo Blahník thinks that making shoes is a real art: the exhibition, the first one in Italy, is a unique opportunity to admire the best footwears created in Italy. The exhibition consists of different rooms situated in the Brera Art Gallery and in the Morando Attendolo Bolognini apartment. They host a large selection of shoes (212 models) and drawings (80) covering the 45 years of activity of the fashion designer. Through six sections, “Manolo Blahník. The Art of Shoes” examines the recurring themes in the career of this visionary man: from footwears devoted to historical and contemporary characters to a section showing the attention to detail. Then, there are sections highlighting his most imaginative works, his irony and creativity. After Milan, the exhibit will take place at the Hermitage Museum of Saint Petersburg, at the Museum Kampa of Prague, at the National Museum of Decorative Arts of Madrid and in 2018, at the Bata Shoe Museum of Toronto. –
