At the Salone del Mobile 2018, Kartell has presented a series of new materials, some products based on research and technological innovation, and a project that involves all the Kartell retailers of the world. The installation was simple and immediate, very clear in its communication: eight platforms showed the products, divided into eight macro-categories, from materials to functions, to decorative finish. We then started from Woody, the area dedicated to research on wood, where there was a chair, an armchair and an armchair with sinuous curves (designed by Philippe Starck), thanks to a special patent that allows you to bring the curvature of the wooden panel to the limit.
Another area of interest is plastics derived from natural materials. Thanks to continuous research, Kartell has developed a chair of Antonio Citterio, the Bio chair, made of a bio material, but with industrial performance. Various other products have also been revisited using the same organic material, such as the Bourgie, Take and Cindy lamps by Ferruccio Laviani, the small tables Jolly by Paolo Rizzatto and Tip Top by Philippe Starck, as well as others.
The innovation continued with the ITable smart table, by Piero Lissoni, a table that becomes an induction cooker hob in some areas, only when needed, or maintains its function as a support surface on the whole surface, when not needed.
Among the different new products presented, different proposals for the Living area, different chairs – not necessarily new – in some cases only improvements or new versions of existing products, grouped in a single Sitting area, news for the Lighting and Outdoor areas, and a new collaboration with La Double J, to cover with the living room with colours and textile patterns.
In addition to the development and research of new products, Kartell has dedicated a large space to retail, with a project representative of all points of sale, from Flagship stores to shop-in-shops, simple stores, presenting a coordinated global image, thus strengthening the link between the manufacturer and the entire Kartell community, which now covers more than 140 countries.
