Think yachts and you’ll see sparkling brass and shiny roots right away. And so it was, until a few years ago. More recently, Italian design became the star of the furniture on Sanlorenzo yachts, a shipyard with the cult of beauty, which has its headquarters in the Montemarcello-Magra natural park in Liguria.

Sanlorenzo, which turned 60 in 2018, started to get interested in Italian design around a decade ago, working with architects and designers such as Rodolfo Dordoni, Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, managing to appoint Piero Lissoni, the internationally renowned architect and designer, as the company’s art director, this year. Thanks to these designers, Sanlorenzo partners with the best Italian brands, from Boffi for the kitchens, to Minotti, Poltrona Frau, Living Divani for the living area and the cabins, to Paola Lenti for the outdoor furniture, and many others.

Let’s dream a bit
The Sanlorenzo shipyards are among the most important in the world, in the manufacturing of yachts, planing yachts with fiberglass hulls, semi-displacement, crossover yachts, and express the Italian excellence in craftsmanship and design, in all models, but especially in metal superyachts from 40 to 80 meters, housing interiors with nothing to envy to the most luxurious apartments.

Attention to interior design is supported by continuous research into innovation: thanks to its eco-sustainable approach, in recent years the company paid great attention to the development of technologies for hybrid and diesel/electric systems and applied them to a range of new models, E Motion. The engine systems of these models offer greater efficiency, greater comfort and safety, flexibility and a significant reduction in emissions.

The 52Steel Seven Sins, the first 52-metre metal superyacht, was awarded at the 14th Asia Boating Awards, in Singapore, in the “Best Yacht Design Innovation” category, thanks to the design of the stern area, which houses a transparent bottom swimming pool located on the main deck, which allows the passage of light into the underlying area, and creates an exclusive beach area thanks to the opening of the doors on three sides, becoming beaches on the edge of the water. The same area quickly turns into a floodable garage for the tender: the beach floor lifts to leave room to accommodate tenders up to 8 meters in length.

A special mention for the headquarters Sanlorenzo, in the natural park of Montemarcello-Magra, a heaven of peace, certified Uni En Iso 14001, confirming the achievement of the best control of the environmental impacts related to the activities, products and services of the company.
