Central House of Artists, the core of Moscow Design Week

There are over 100 places of interest throughout the city and the districts – Winzavod Art District, Hlebozavod Design District and Shelk Design District – are transformed thanks to the curators called to offer their original vision of the most fascinating areas of Moscow: stores, restaurants, clubs and bars open their doors to Russian designers who show the results of the researches and experimentations of the last years.

The dialogue with Italian culture has been a key aspect for the organizers of Moscow Design Week for a long time and it clearly emerges also this year thanks to famous Italian designers, installations and lectures included in the experimental format Design Superheroes. Among the protagonists we can mention Aldo Cibic, Matteo Cibic, Simone Micheli, Alessandro Guerriero. Giulio Cappellini will curate the interesting Contest 02.2.20 dedicated to young talents who exhibit their original projects for fashion and furniture collections.

The Central House of Artist is the core of Moscow Design Week: about 700 sq m are occupied by the exhibition Golden Bee, whose president is Sergey Serov, which hosts experimental works by Russian graphic designers.

The project iLari, curated by Alessandro Guerriero and already exhibited at Triennale di Milano, includes the works by thirty designers who reinterpreted the faith in Lares – the ancient spirits of the dead that, according to the Roman tradition, guarded families and homes.

Renowned sculptor Aydin Zeynalov displays his unique carpets and bronze tables at the Central House of Artist.

On the upper floor an authentic Design Market offers the visitors the possibility of touching and buying the products made by local designers who fearlessly measure

themselves against the latest collections by established companies and emerging brands on the Russian scene.

Finally, for the first time, the Moscow Design Week 2018 opens to Moroccan design, which is often mentioned as an example of originality and experimentation, encouraging the dialogue between craftsmanship, design and companies. [Text Chiara Sgreccia]
