Today is the International Mountain Day and here is our selection of Alpine hotels: architectures that enhance the territory and offer special comfort

The mountains are magical in every season: they offer breathtaking vistas and stays away from any source of stress to those who choose them for the holidays.

On December 11th we celebrate the International Mountain Day, designated in 2003 by the United Nations to increase global awareness about the importance of mountains and to encourage sustainable tourism development.

Design Diffusion proposes you 5 top architectural projects at dizzying heights in the Alps that enhance the territories where they sit and represent ideal destinations for Christmas holidays.

5. Eco-hotel Pfösl

With an enviable view on the Dolomites, the eco-Hotel Pfösl features 18 suites with private garden that reaches the edge of the forest, while large windows make it possible to enjoy the view right from one’s king size bed. Those who have a “wild” spirit but don’t want to give up the comforts of a four-star hotel can opt for the new chalets in the heart of the forest, elevated like tree houses. Entirely made of local wood, they will make you experience the fantastic feeling of being surrounded by nature.

4. Nature Family Resort

Inaugurated in December 2017, the Feuerstein Nature Family Resort in the Pflersch Valley, (few kilometers away from Sterzing and Brenner Pass) will celebrate its first anniversary in the best possible way. The hotel organizes its first Christmas market inspired by sustainability and creativity. In the Christmas-inspired woods it will be possible to purchase a wide range of local organic products. Designed for each family member, the resort is equipped with spa with regeneration paths, rooms for meditation, outdoor heated swimming pools and adorable areas that engage children in different activities, even unusual for a mountain hotel, such as the “sand room”.

3. Levissima 3000 Chalet

The project presented in October 2018 in collaboration with Stelvio National Park promotes the territory the brand has always been linked to, the Central Alps, at the borders of the Stelvio National Park, from whose springs Levissima mineral water originates. The chalet can be booked on Airbnb and sits on the highest peak in Bormio, which also hosts the famous panoramic restaurant Heaven 3000. Designed to accommodate two people, the ‘Levissima 3000’ chalet is made of local natural materials and perfectly harmonizes with the surroundings. 1. Snow Dream Experience

As Christmas approaches along with the usual gift rush, we feel we must give the highest step of the podium of our top 5 to Snow Dream Experience. From December 19th to the end of March 2019, at a short distance from Bormio, at the feet of the Swiss National Park, two large snow chalets (before Hotel Lac Salin SPA & Mountain Resort) will host the daring ones willing to try the experience of sleeping at the regenerating temperature of 0°C for one night. The chalets are entirely made of ice, sculpted as if it were wood. Masterfully decorated by artist Vania Cusini, they will keep you warm, so to speak, while outside wind and snow bring the temperature far below 0°C.

The Snow Dream Experience starts with a cocktail and a traditional dinner at la Stua da Legn restaurant. Before entering the thermal sleeping bag, you can warm up with hot herbal teas that will gently invite you to sleep. In the morning, a hot cup of coffee will wake you up while still in bed. And, after the breakfast with the typical products of the woods, it will be time for the “Alpine awakening” massage at the Mandira SPA of Hotel Lac Salin SPA & Mountain Resort, 1,200 sq m of wellness with water paths and natural treatments.
