The Salone del Mobile.Milan

Less than two months to go to the Salone del Mobile.Milan 2019, the most popular and visited furniture fair in the world. However, to call it a fair is now very reductive: over time it has turned into a lifestyle event, which embraces creativity in every field.

The Salone del Mobile is the focus of the multi-faceted system called Milan Design Week, which usually begins a few days before the trade show in Rho-Fieramilano, and also includes the add-on events to the show, and all the events and exhibitions of the Fuorisalone.

The Salone del Mobile.Milan: the products

This year in the halls set up at Rho-Fieramilano, from 9 to 14 April, there will be also the biennial Euroluce, dedicated to lighting, Workplace, with office and contract furniture, S.Project, the area dedicated to interior design, and SaloneSatellite, as usual, with over 500 young designers.

The 2019 edition will have over 2,300 exhibitors in the fair pavilions. Among them, 421 companies will be exhibiting at Euroluce, 550 young people will be taking part in SaloneSatellite and the others will be exhibiting at Salone del Mobile, Workplace and S.Project.

The companies in the Workplace segment will be scattered across the various pavilions, mixed with companies specializing in home furnishings. This is because today everything is much more fluid, and even the furniture is no longer so compartmentalized.

S. Project, in Halls 22 and 24, will host materials, finishes and ideas for interior architecture projects, thus becoming a reference point for architects and interior designers.

Moreover, in 2019, the “Salone” joins the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the Leonardo Da Vinci’s death. In Milan, Leonardo da Vinci worked as an artist, architect, engineer and scientist for over twenty years, leaving many traces of his presence, still visible today.

AQUA. La visione di Leonardo. (WATER. Leonardo’s vision) can be visited from 5 to 14 April, at the Conca dell’Incoronata, or Conca delle Gabelle, at the very end of via San Marco, in Brera – part of a system of sluices that in Milan are called “Chiuse di Leonardo”. Here, a large stretch of water will reflect a skyline of Milan changing according to the time of day, and will welcome the public in a “Wunderkammer” immersed in water.
