Manhattan Loft Gardens is a skyscraper in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park district, East London, hosting 248 apartments and a hotel with 145 rooms, a sky garden and a restaurant on the seventh floor. Including design and building phases, it took 10 years to complete the project.

Space Copenhagen design studio and the interiors

Space Copenhagen designed the rooms of the hotel and the public areas, including the lobby of the skyscraper, the Mezzanine Bar and the Allegra restaurant, on the seventh floor. The interiors are characterized by Space Copenhagen’s style, a sort of “poetic modernism”, with dusty colors and warm yet rigorous materials such as wood or metals with precious finishes.

As to furniture, the practice has chosen customized items and products belonging to the collections they designed for Gubi, Stellar Works, Benchmark. The same muted and warm tones decorate the Allegra restaurant led by chef Patrick Powell.

A 10 m tall fireplace dominates the large lobby on the ground floor, where a curved balcony juts out from the Mezzanine as if it were a terrace overlooking a square. A suspended installation by Paul Cocksedge, “Murmuration”, completes the lobby.

A standout feature of the hotel is represented by the cedar gardens offering views of London, which bring you closer to nature and create outdoor relaxation areas. [Text Roberta Mutti]
