Cortina for US, in collaboration with the Municipality of Cortina, organizes an event for design professionals and enthusiasts

The association Cortina for US, in collaboration with the Municipality of Cortina d’Ampezzo, organizes the Cortina Design Weekend, a three-day event dedicated to local design and sustainability.

This event, originally scheduled for April, will be a digital one, on July 22, 2020.

The theme of the first edition of the Cortina Design Weekend is The Woods, from Natural Object to Design Object. This theme celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Dolomites Natural Park. Several installations, displayed on the main street of Cortina, in hotel lounges and shop windows, will represent an ideal connection with the Salone del Mobile di Milano. Moreover, the Cortina Design Weekend will highlight the link between Milan and Cortina, which will jointly organize the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Also the conference at the Eden cinema has been confirmed for July. Professionals will exchange views on architecture and sustainability, and wood as a key material.

The conference, valid for obtaining professional training credits, will be attended by architects Giovanni La Varra, from Barreca – La Varra, Massimo Iosa Ghini, and Leonardo Cavalli, from One Works. Internationally renowned architects will talk with representatives of the ‘Regole’ and the Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites, as well as architects from Cortina (Studio Bernardi, Studio Gellner), and representatives of partner companies.

Another part of the conference will be dedicated to young architects and craftsmen from Cortina and their experiences. The conference will be moderated by Alessandro Sallusti, editor-in-chief of Il Giornale, media partner of the Cortina Design Weekend along with DDN – Design Diffusion News.
