This Brucoli lighthouse, built in 1911, is in the ancient seaside village of Brucoli, in the province of Syracuse. Brucoli is located near Val di Noto, a UNESCO world heritage site. The restoration of the lighthouse

The conservative restoration and conversion of the Brucoli lighthouse into a luxury home was entrusted to Itinera Studio Associato.

During the works, historical documents and old photographs of the original lighthouse made it possible to identify and eliminate all superfetations – parts of the building built after its completion, which change its original appearance. Masonry was consolidated with fiberglass mesh and lime-based plaster. The under-floor cavity, on the other hand, was restored with stone ashlars.

To protect the building from atmospheric agents and salt corrosion, a cycle of lime-based plasters with a siloxane final layer was applied. Moreover, to guarantee greater well-being inside the house, a dehumidifying plaster with microcells, which increases the temperature by 3 degrees centigrade, was used.

Outdoor flooring is in stone ashlars, while indoors Modica stone was chosen; external casings, on the other hand, are in untreated brass.

The Brucoli lighthouse and its rebirth

Choosing to spend your holidays in Sicily, at the Brucoli Lighthouse, means choosing a dreamlike experience, just a stone’s throw from the sea. A walkway connects the outdoor spaces of the lighthouse directly with the sea. On the ground floor of the new 5-star residence, there are the wellness area with hammam, entirely made by Antonio Lupi Designer, a living area with fireplace for winter, and a spacious dining room with open kitchen and professional equipment. On the first floor, instead, there are three large bedrooms and the bathrooms. The terrace, a space where you can relax and enjoy panoramic views, is flanked by the tower that leads to the lighthouse lantern, which still works. Finally, the outdoor spaces feature a whirlpool tub with chromotherapy to offer further spaces of wellness.
