Milan Design Week 2022: guide to districts and events

The Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone will be back from 6 to 12 June 2022 with the usual format. Although the restrictions for the pandemic are still partly in force, the atmosphere is one of great expectations; there is great excitement for an edition that will certainly be special, if only because the Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone have been missing for two years if we do not consider the special edition of 2021.

The Salone del Mobile.Milano and the city

As you have already seen from the posts dedicated to the Salone del Mobile.Milano, the pavilions of Rho-Fieramilano will welcome about 2,000 exhibitors for the Salone del Mobile, Eurocucina, International Bathroom Exhibition and SaloneSatellite. And the city promises to be just as effervescent, with the various districts already announcing a sell-out, at least in terms of exhibition spaces. Designdiffusion.com will dedicate a lot of space to the Fuorisalone events and the new products that will be presented at the Salone del Mobile.Milano. The result will be a mini-guide to be consulted before and above all after the Milan Design Week so as not to lose the wealth of experience and knowledge that will come with it.

Brera Design District at Fuorisalone 2022

The appointment with the Brera area and Brera Design District is always welcome. Brera, one of the areas that has always been central to the Fuorisalone since the first events in the early 1980s, has become increasingly large and rich in events of various kinds over the years. The 2022 edition of Brera Design District will host over 160 events, many of which will take place in permanent showrooms. Alongside the spaces used all year round, there will be numerous installations involving internationally renowned companies and brands and just as many world-renowned designers.

The special projects in the Brera District

Porsche debuts at the Milan Design Week with “The Art of Dreams” initiative and an immersive installation by floral artist Ruby Barber at Palazzo Clerici. The work, which creates fantastic panoramas and generates surreal sensations, questions the relationship between nature and technology. During the week, Palazzo Clerici will host other special initiatives, including yoga sessions in the morning.

Higlights at Milan Design Week 2022

Casa Baglioni, the new hotel that will be opened in the Brera district by the end of the year, opens its building site to the Fuorisalone, housing the art exhibition “IN-BETWEEN. Between Art and Design.” The exhibition curated by Spagnulo & Partners describes the delicate relationship between art and design, the same relationship that characterizes the new Baglioni hotel, designed by Spagnulo & Partners. Works by three great international artists – Agostino Bonalumi, Anne Imohof and Giulio Paolini – define new languages for interior design, where architecture and art coexist and create new harmonies. These will also be the key themes of the future Casa Baglioni, which will be inspired by Milanese artistic avant-garde of the 1960s.

Time and space at Acquario Civico

The Acquario Civico will stage the interactive installation Momentum. Stark, a company that produces multimedia installations, will present a visual and experiential installation on the time-space/environment system. The work invites us to reflect on the actions we perform every day, which relate to space and transform it; it is still possible to create despite the inexorable march of time. The installation at the Civic Aquarium of Milan is also part of the Ocean Week, an event aimed at raising awareness of the general public on issues related to the blue economy, the protection of the seas and oceans, and the virtuous behaviors related to the ocean, a great natural heritage.
